Biography

I spent the first part of my career in music teaching and professional singing.  I taught voice for many years and sang for 2 seasons with the Norman Luboff Choir.   I became interested in art after taking a few courses for fun.  I found in the visual arts a creative process that I liked very much.   I enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts degree program at Illinois State University and in 1988 I received  an MFA in art studio. Since that time I have been involved in metalworking and sculpture and more recently, painting.

I grew up in central Illinois and have lived either here or in Chicago for most of my life.  I have a studio in downtown Bloomington, Illinois and am part of a large number of artists in the area.  My studio at 313 N Main Suite A is open First Fridays from 5-8 pm. and Saturdays from 9 am-2pm.

In April 2008, Martha Burk and I opened an art gallery,  Main Gallery 404 in downtown Bloomington Illinois.  After 5 years, we sold the gallery to Lisa Lofgren.    Susan Mendenhall took over the gallery in February of 2016 and continues to show the work of about 40 local artists.
